This Organic Microbial Liquid Rennet is produced to Organic Standards. All ingredients conform to organic standards, although the product is produced in a non-organic certified facility.
This Rennet is an excellent option for making vegetarian-friendly cheeses, especially, soft cheeses.
The enzymes in this microbial rennet are derived from a non-GMO strain of Mucor miehei, a fungus that helps facilitate the fermentation and curd development of cheese from milk.
Home Usage:
1/4 Teaspoon for 1-2 gallons milk
1/2 Teaspoon for 3-5 gallons milk
Vegetarian rennet is best used for soft cheeses as it won’t give the same effect that’s needed to make hard cheeses such as parmesan or cheddar.
The Organic Microbial Liquid Rennet is perfect for goat cheeses, camembert, blue cheese varieties and any other soft, fresh cheeses.
