About This Product

Cheddar Muslin Bandaging  Socks - 6 pak

Easy Cheddar Bandaging for Aging!

All natural soft unbleached muslin cheddar bandaging socks- fit over almost any size cheddar from a small 5" wheel to large 12" wheel!

Bandage material stretches to fit, contracts to stay snug.

  • Coat your cheese first (using lard, ghee or butter).
  • Cut cheddar bandaging sock so that it's about 1 1/2 times as long as diamter of cheese.
  • slip the cheese into the sock; pull it snug;  and tie off (or use a twist tie / rubber band)
  • trim off excess material to keep it out of your way

Important Note:  these are GREAT for bandaging and aging, but the holes will stretch too large to

be used as a cheese cloth for draining.   Use our top grade Cheese Cloth for draining curds or wrapping to press.

Size: the sock 5x28in and will stretch much larger. (12.7x28cm)

    Muslin Bags

Posted by Roland Wilk on 24th Mar 2020

These reusable bags are much easier to use than cheesecloth. They can be used in a press or for draining.

    I really like them but....

Posted by Alicia Cross on 12th Dec 2018

I really like these muslin socks but.... Be careful of loose strings. I have found the unravel a bit, especially after they have been washed. Also, I need to learn a trick about them sticking to the wheels of cheese. Note from Steve/thecheesemaker: I recommend hand washing and air-drying, easier on the material. Leave on the cheese only long enough to 'close the knit', then take off and rinse clean. This will maintain their integrity
